Who I am and what I offer
Hello! My name is Andreea and I am passionate about neuroscience. I am a clinical psychologist, integrative psychotherapist and also a DIRFloortime therapist in training. I approach psychology through a scientific-practical method that is inclusive, assertive and involves multidisciplinary collaboration. I am dedicated to supporting neurodivergent individuals to integrate socially and reach their full potential.
I have valuable experience in psychological assessment and counselling of neurodivergent individuals, especially children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and ADHD. I combine solid theoretical training with empathy, patience, and adaptation to each client's unique needs in the therapeutic process. I work with children, adolescents and adults, with strong skills in cognitive-behavioral techniques, cognitive and language stimulation, and sensory integration. I am also supportive of the LGBTQ+ community.
With extensive experience in psychological assessment and intervention, I can help you manage affective disorders (such as depression, mania, bipolar), anxiety disorders (panic attacks, phobias, social anxiety), trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), addictions, as well as personality disorders (borderline, histrionic, etc.) and neurodevelopmental disorders (ADHD, ASD).
I offer complex psychological assessments that come with professional stamp. These can be particularly useful for special commissions, determining cognitive and social skills, assessing personality traits and symptom intensity. Assessments can also assist the clinician in establishing various diagnoses, such as ADHD in adults, using tools such as DIVA and Barkley/BDEFS.
I am a proponent of the integrative approach, which encompasses a wide range of psychotherapeutic techniques. Depending on the case, some methods may be more appropriate than others; this is where approaches such as cognitive-behavioural, systemic, experiential, gestalt and others come into play.
In Iasi, you can meet me at the Hope Clinic, where I am part of a collaborative therapeutic team. Here there is the possibility of settlement through CNAS, but only for paediatric services. In addition, I also offer online sessions through my private practice, when the situation allows it.
Education and training
I have a strong background in clinical psychology, psychotherapy and behavioural sciences. I hold a certificate of free practice from the Romanian College of Psychologists and I am currently undergoing training in psychotherapy at a psychotherapy organization.
I graduated in psychology at the University "Al.I. Cuza" in Iasi. Subsequently, I also attended a master's degree in clinical psychology and psychotherapy at the same university from 2020 to 2022. I am a member of the Romanian College of Psychologists since 2020 and I work as a collaborating psychologist at the Hope Clinic in Iasi, where I perform clinical psychodiagnosis, complex psychological assessments, counselling and psychological intervention.
I am currently undergoing training in psychotherapy at the Association for Integrative Psychotherapy and Clinical Psychology. I have internationally recognized skills in therapies such as DIRFloortime and sensory integration, recommended for treating children and adolescents with ADHD, ASD and other developmental disorders.
I am also a research assistant at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences at "Al.I. Cuza" University, where I work on studies in psychology.
Volunteering
I am also a volunteer psychologist at StreetAware Association, where I support sensory integration, parenting and personal development activities for people from disadvantaged backgrounds. I have also participated in various studies in the field of psychology, as a research assistant, at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the "Al.I. Cuza" University and beyond.
I have valuable experience volunteering in educational and counselling projects for children and young people. I coordinated an emotional intelligence workshop at Camp "ArtEd" in 2019 and supported educational activities in the project "Let's Grow Big!" in rural areas. I also provided free psychological counselling to Erasmus students through the "Learn&Connect" project.
My professional values and my continuous development
I consider the therapeutic relationship essential in the process of counselling and integration of neurodivergent people. I emphasize empathy, patience and a unique understanding of each client. My goal is to provide a safe, friendly and needs-centered environment for the individual to develop to their fullest potential.
Based on my experience in educational projects, I understand the importance of family involvement in the therapeutic process of children and young people. Thus, I offer counselling and support to parents so that they can form a stable and stimulating environment for their children. I also collaborate with teachers in my clients' schools so that the social integration of neurodivergent children is as harmonious as possible.
I constantly attend conferences and workshops in the field of clinical psychology, psychotherapy and behavioural sciences to continuously improve my knowledge and practical skills. Topics covered at these events include cognitive-behavioral psychotherapies, effective parenting, nonverbal communication, gender identity, psycho-criminological expertise and more.
1 Review on “Psih. Andreea Popa”
Andreea m-a ajutat foarte mult.
